Kept me from trashing my Traeger Timberline 850

Posted by Andy K on Nov 3rd 2019

I have a Traeger 850 Timberline, which has been borderline junk for the last three years. In the previous two weeks, I've been researching Kamados to step my BBQ game up and finally have BBQ with some smoke in it.I read about these pellets on a BBQ forum and figured what the heck, let's give the Traeger one last chance before unloading AR-15 magazines in it before taking it to the dump and buying a Kamado Big Joe III.Wow!My first cook with these pellets was a simple pack of brats, and they looked and tasted amazing! They were so good, even though it's freezing here, I bought two racks of baby backs this morning that is on the 850 now. We've been using Traeger pellets for years, and I have about 80 pounds that will be going in my dumpster at work tomorrow! It looks like these pellets just saved me the better part of $2000 to replace a mediocre Chinese made pellet smoker.

Very good pellet blend. Burns well. Made for a great brisket on my first long cook on my Green Mountain Jim Bowie.

Great flavor but needs quality control

    Posted by R.D. on Jul 2nd 2019

The best tasting food with this perfect mix compared to single flavored pellets! Leaves a sweet aftertaste which is very nice but after a while it sometimes tasted like artificial sweetener (like Sweet n Low aftertaste). Still, the aroma and the flavor have been the best so far compared to other pellets I've used.Would be almost perfect but I did find about 2-3 blue/green plastic pieces in the burnpot after a cook. I've only used about half the bag so far and after seeing the plastic, I switched to a different brand. I might still use the rest, but maybe not for slow and low. It's a shame because I was willing to spend money on these in the future because the flavor and smell are incredible!!!

    Pellet value tastes great

Great value just be careful when you open the box not to cut the bag of pellets.

As far as I'm concerned, there's only one brand of smoking pellets.

Posted by Jack Storey on Mar 16th 2019

I use my pellet cooker several times a week, even in the harsh winters of the midwest, and I've tried a great many brands of pellets along the way; there is nothing that holds a candle to CookinPellets Perfect Mix, imho. Consistent in size, smoke, and flavor. Most importantly, they produce very little ash and burn at an incredibly consistent rate that gives me more cook hours than other brands. My hopper has never had any issue with these pellets, and even when outdoor temps drop well below freezing, they burn steadily, without massive fluctuation (as I have experienced with a few other brands). I am big fan of CookinPellets, and I am looking very forward to trying the other specific wood pellet options in their product line this season.

Works well in GMG grill, good flavor, more leftover ash compared to others

    Posted by S. on Dec 18th 2018

Pretty good smoke flavor, leaves a bit more ash compared to GMG pellets, but that may be due to the fact its 100% hardwood. If you dont mind cleaning up a bit more these are great pellets.

    Good Quality Pellet

Posted by William on Nov 10th 2018

I use these in my Memphis Pro and get great results. Nice balanced flavor blend, nothing too overpowering. The price is decent and home delivery make it a good purchase over all.My original plan when I got my smoker was to change the pellets to accent what protein was being cooked. After a few cooks that overly-ambitious plan went out the window and I found this blend that made life easier. The only caution I have is to open the shipping box carefully as the bag of pellets is stuffed in that box, corners and all.

less hickory) but overall a good single pellet for all mix

Posted by Tom on Sep 18th 2018

No oak! The mix has a slightly stronger smoke flavor than I prever (more pecan or apple, less hickory) but overall a good single pellet for all mix. Did I mention no oak? No bitter oak!

    Good pellets

Posted by Stacie Peterson on Sep 16th 2018

So, I smoke with a 40 inch Masterbuilt electric smoker. (I know, electric smokers are sacrilege) I only bring this up to point out that I am not using the pellets as a heat source, but rather for the smoke flavor they impart. With that said, I have been pretty happy with these. They burned really great when I first received them, but after spending a year in the garage in an open bag they don't light as easily. I use a A-maz-n pellet tray, and microwave the pellets for 2-3 minutes before lighting them to drive out any moisture. Pellets give a nice mellow wood flavor and I like that they are 100% wood. Good stuff.
