Pre Cook
  1. Fill hopper with Cookinpellets.com Apple Mash pellets
  2. Set smoker to 350° F
  3. Grease pan with softened butter
  4. Sift flour and baking powder into large bowl
  5. Add the sugar, salt, cinnamon, and cloves and whisk well
  6. Add the butter to the bowl and make a coarse meal
  7. Whisk the milk, eggs, and vanilla and add to the bowl
  8. Mix until well combined but with a few lumps
  9. Pour the batter evenly into the cake pan and smooth the top
  10. Core apple and cut into ⅛” slices.
  11. Arrange the slices around the pan like the petals of a flower
  12. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl
  13. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the apples and batter
Cook
  1. Place cake pan onto grill gates and smoke for 30 minutes
  2. Check doneness after 30 minutes with a toothpick
  3. If toothpick pulls back clean then the cake is done
  4. This took 35 minutes total
Post Cook
  1. Remove cake from smoker and place on cooling rack for 15 minutes
  2. Slice and enjoy
  3. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream for an added treat
