Instructions
Burger Prep
- Remove ground meat from packaging, and form into equal size patties. 1 pound of ground beef will make 4 patties
- Season both sides of the patty with SPG (or your favorite burger seasoning)
Cooking
- Set Smoker to 250 degrees Fahrenheit using Cookinpellets 100% Hickory Cookinpellets.
- Once smoker is up to temp, put the burger patties on and let the smoke for 45 mintues. Pro Tip: Make sure your patties are very cold, and this will help with not overcooking them. If you are forming and seasoning patties prior to putting them on your smoker, be sure to put them back into the refrigerator until it's time to cook.
- After about 45 minutes, check the internal temperature of the patties. You want the temperature to reach 145 degrees F before adding the cheese. Pro Tip: The thickness of your patties will cause a variation in temperature at the 45 minute mark.
- Once the temperature reaches 145 degrees F, add the cheese of your choice, and let the cheese melt for about 10-15 minutes. While the cheese is melting, butter and toast your buns.
- Once the cheese has melted bring the burgers inside to rest, and remove your buns from the heat. Pro tip: For maximum flavor and food safety, we advise cooking your burgers to at least 155 degrees Farenheit. There will be some carryover cooking during the resting process.
- After your burgers have rested, and carryover cooking has completed, build your burger with toppings and condiments of your choice! We oped for tomatoes, raw onions, lettuce, and BBQ sauce.
- Serve and enjoy!
