In my top 2 for pellets

Posted by Ron Clark on May 17th 2015

Just received these pellets and couldn't wait to use them. Smoked some pork ribs today and they held a consistent temperature on my Traeger Tex and they smell oh so good. Only a couple things I had an issue with is the smoke output, but I'll just throw in an Amazin tube, and there is more ash then others, For the cost and free shipping, these are the best on the market. Just ordered another bag since they seem to be available again without the wait.

CookinPellets Perfect Mix - GREAT! Using them in Memphis Grill - Not So Great!

Posted by Stephen S. on Feb 14th 2015

This is my experience... yours may be different! This is not in any way a negative feedback on these pellets. I have cooked with them multiple times on my Hearthland Memphis Elite pellet grill and can say they produce a well rounded smoke flavor. The price is decent (pellet smoking is a higher cost way of doing it anyway!)However, it seems that these pellets may not be truly compatible with this grill. Every time I use these pellets, my grill "ashes" up after about 11 hours of grilling. Usually closer to 12 hours... every time! I clean out the "pit" everytime without fail and use a wet/dry vac to get every bit of ash out of the pit. Yes! I've contacted Hearthland about this.Is it something wrong with the grill? Could be!So, on recommendation by the manufacture and I am purchasing the brand of pellets they recommend.I will update this review or create a new review once I smoked a couple of times using the recommended pellets!Until then and regardless of what happens with the recommended pellets, if your grill can use these pellets without problem, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! (Yes! I meant to use all caps!)

Great Pellets - BEWARE of other cheap manufacturers

Posted by Michael Perry on Jan 21st 2015

I've been pellet smoking for about 2 years now and I've been looking at these pellets and it's reviews for quite some time. I currently own the RecTec pellet grill which I upgrade from my previous pellet grill (a traeger - awful grills). Of all the things you learn when pellet grilling one of the things that you quickly realize is pellet quality matters... A LOT. Many many many, and I stress MANY pellet manufacturers use cheap quality wood (alder wood) that have little to no flavor/aroma and then make up for it by using oils to give the wood the smell and aroma when you heat them in your smoker. Problem is, oils do not transfer flavor to meat in the slightest. Many of the large 'name brand' manufacturers do this to cut costs. That's why going with more mom and pop operations for getting pellets is very preferable. That's where these pellets come in. These pellets are definitely good quality with great aroma and add a nice subtle and sweet smokiness to the meat. No frills with packaging or anything else with this product; essentially it's just a bag of wood so how fancy could you really get right? The product is as advertised and well worth the money as well as return business.

    Great pellets.

Posted by Tyler Hathaway on Dec 2nd 2014

These pellets are great especially for the price. I don't have any issues with dust and there is no filler. I have gone through 4 or 5 bags so far and will continue purchasing more. I prefer these over any pellet i've used so far.

    good and smooth

Posted by BGC on Apr 29th 2014

Provided a good smooth smoke flavor to my meat. A little mild for me but everyone else loved it. I prefer a strong mesquite with cherry kicker for flavor (Texas boy) I did like it on the fish and stuffed jalapenos.

    Favorite pellets

Posted by Dave L. on Jun 6th 2013

I've used quite a few varieties of pellets, and while the flavor differences are not huge, these are my favorite. Good flavor, and the cherry wood imparts a nice red color to many meats. So if I say they are my favorite, why only 4 stars? Two reasons:1) It costs an arm and a leg to ship them to San Diego (no local dealer so far).2) I'm 50 some years old and I work a desk job. OK, I'm a weakling. 40 pound bags of pellets are just a pain in the rear for me to handle.
