How To Prepare For A Fantastic Pellet Grilling Memorial Day Weekend

If you don’t consider grilling season to begin when the snow begins to melt, maybe you are one of the many folks that believe grilling season kicks off on Memorial Day weekend! Hopefully it will be the first of many weekends you are hanging out and grilling with friends and family, so now is the time to get ready for a summer of fun!

Order a Variety of 100% Hardwood Pellets

To prepare for your BBQ, get your pellet grill dusted off and gather your supplies. When you’re pellet grilling, using high quality 100% hardwood pellets with no fillers will give you the best flavors and even cooking temperatures.  Stock up now, and be ready for the entire summer BBQ season.  The easiest solution is to order a variety of pellets.  With Cookinpellets Bulk Mix and Match you can get Perfect Mix Pellets, Apple Mash Pellets, AND 100% Hickory Pellets – you’ll be ready to cook anything and can experiment with which flavors your family likes best.  You’ll have the Perfect Mix for everything from Burgers to Ribs to Chicken and Veggies, Apple Mash Pellets for a lighter smoke flavor for foods like Pork, and 100% Hickory to get that wonderful full smoky flavor for your ribs and beef!

Plan Your Menu and Order Your Grilling Accessories

Next you’ll have to plan your menu.  Keep it classic for your Memorial Day gathering – think Kabobs, which have the bonus of being prepped before the BBQ and having a short smoke time.  Also, food on a stick is what summer is all about, right? Give our tried and true Marinated Beef Kabob recipe a try! It calls for 100% Hickory Pellets, which offer the delicious classic smoky flavor you’re looking for, and the beef pairs well with the stronger smoke flavor you get from 100% Hickory Pellets.

A Frogmat will be a lifesaver while you’re making your kabobs! The Frogmat is a must-have for any delicate foods that may stick while turning, such as the vegetables on the kabob or fish.  Frogmats are also a great solution for foods that fall down between the grates – with a Frogmat, you’re doing yourself a huge favor when it comes to cleanup time.

Planning on throwing some hot dogs on for the kids? You’ll want to get a Slotdog! The Slotdog makes the hotdog look awesome, cook faster, and creates plenty of crispy squares on the dog for extra flavor and to hold onto your condiments.

Of course you’ll have to plan for some snacks on Memorial Day! We have a fun appetizer that can either be made the day before, or you can throw it on the pellet grill right before guests arrive.  Smoked Chex Mix is a crowd pleaser and can be made in huge batches! Tie on your apron and fire up the pellet grill!

Smoked Chex Mix

Preheat your pellet grill to 250 degrees, using Perfect Mix Pellets

Ingredients

  • 3 cups corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 cup bite size sesame sticks, pretzels OR Garlic Rye Chips
  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder (or use a tablespoon or two of minced garlic)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Optional tabasco or cayenne pepper

Melt the butter and mix in the Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.  Add a few dashes of tabasco or cayenne pepper if you want some heat! In a roasting pan, stir together all the other ingredients, then mix in your butter mixture. Stir to coat well.

Cook in the roasting pan on the pellet grill for 1 hour at 350 degrees, stirring every 15 minutes.

Remove from grill and cool a few minutes before serving.

Plan now and order your 100% hardwood pellets, grilling accessories such as Frogmats and Slotdog, fun apron to get conversation going (this Grillmaster apron is fun), plan out your BBQ menu, and you’ll be on your way to a BBQ to remember!
